Opening the door to animation worlds
Over the years in animation, Maria has gained extensive experience as a screenwriter, head writer, editor-in-chief, and creative producer at major animation studios. She led the development of 20 animated series for different audiences, including Umka, Cheburashka, Champions, Ludlville, Martyshkiny, The Last Bookshop, Kroshki, Neodeti, Princesses: A Fairytale Voice, and more. She has written and edited hundreds of episodes, as well as scripts for short and feature-length cartoons. She has actively developed the industry: organized writing and editing courses and an internal project accelerator at Soyuzmultfilm. An expert at industry events and pitches: SuzdalFest 2026, Bessonnitsa 2025, Multnauka 2024, Non/Fiction Book Fair 2024, Karakuz 2026, Inspired by Childhood contest 2026, Medvezhonok 2026. Films based on her scripts have received Russian and international awards (ORFAK in Suzdal, In cine veritas in Bordeaux, France, Reggio Film Festival, Italy). Produced music videos, animated series, and animated features in 2D and 3D for Soyuzmultfilm and clients from the UAE and Georgia. Projects include a pilot for Sante et Tropica, Martyshkiny, Three Cats, Barsukot 2, music videos for Auktyon and Uma2rman. Features: Do You Know, Mom, Where I Was 2, Unrest, Alice in Wonderland, The Tale of Tales. Awards: Special Prize from 2x2 at BFM Festival 2025, Best Animated Series at AGIF 2024 (Animation Guild India Fest), Best Film — First Film Festival Tallinn 2025. Was Head of Production at Metrafilms. Led a marketing department in educational content. Has experience as an illustrator and animation director.

Good stories should make someone's life a little easier
Has written hundreds of episodes for animated series at leading Russian studios: Orange Cow, Zebra in Checks, Umka, Magic Kitchen, Sheep Hotel, Prostokvashino, Chuch-Myauch, Lex and Plu, BabyRiki, Turbozaurs, Flora Team, and others. Took part in series development and wrote feature-length cartoons. For several years she was an editor on Orange Cow, Monsiki, and Martyshkiny. Episodes based on her scripts have won prizes at international and Russian festivals (Xiamen International Animation Festival in China, SuzdalFest, and more). Named Best Screenwriter at Soyuzmultfilm in 2023. Taught practical classes on Soyuzmultfilm screenwriting courses.

What is animation development?
A full development cycle includes creative, script, directing, and art development of a project — from idea to pilot. It covers a pitch bible for applications and presentations, art development of main characters and locations, directing and script guides, a pilot animatic, and animation of your choice: a teaser, 2 minutes of animation, or a series pilot.
How long does it take to develop an animation project?
Creative development is a labor-intensive process; depending on the project scope, it takes from 6 months to a year.
Why is animation not a cheap production?
It is a complex, long-term creative and technological process involving teams of 30 to 100 people, depending on the scale of production.
